Postbank customers will soon have to change how they access their money, as the state-owned bank prepares to end cash services at South African Post Office SAPO branches nationwide.
From 1 May 2026, Postbank will no longer offer cash deposits or withdrawals at SAPO branches. The decision marks a significant shift in how millions of clients, many of them in rural and underserved communities, interact with their accounts.
Instead, customers will be required to use alternative channels, including major retailers , ATMs and Standard Bank branches. Postbank says the move is aimed at improving convenience and expanding access to more reliable banking infrastructure.
