On 6 January 2026, Trkiye notified the World Trade Organization WTO Committee on Safeguards that it had initiated, on 31 December 2025, a safeguard investigation into imports of other paper and paperboard, classifiable under tariff subheadings 4810.29 and 4810.92, on which comments are due by 31 January 2026.

A safeguard investigation seeks to determine whether increased imports of a product are causing, or are threatening to cause, serious injury to a domestic industry.
