Three suspects are expected to appear at the Veeriniging Magistrate Court in the Vaal on Friday facing a string of charges that include murder, attempted murder, carjacking and possession of a hijacked motor vehicle. This follows a shooting incident that took place on Tuesday at R59 Road in Meyerton where a taxi which was travelling from Johannesburg towards Free State was attacked. Three suspects in a Nissan Juke crashed into the taxi and opened fire causing it to overturn, leading to the death of six passengers and injury eighteen others. Reports suggests that the suspects hijacked a motor vehicle but were tracked down and arrested. Police have opened six counts of murder, 18 counts of attempted murder, carjacking, and possession of a hijacked vehicle. The motive behind the attack is still unknown.
