priority court established in durban to fasttrack immigration cases

The Department of Home Affairs, in partnership with the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, has established a priority court in Durban to fast-track immigration matters.

This follows a verification process which found that nearly 2 000 Malawian nationals were living in the country illegally.

The priority court will operate virtually under the authority of the Durban Magistrates Court as government intensifies efforts to process deportation orders and enforce immigration legislation.
