The authorities in Mpumalanga have advised motorists travelling on the N4 toll road between Machadodorp and Mbombela to use the Schoemanskloof alternative route.
The road between Ngodwana and Waterval Boven has been closed following a collision between a minibus taxi and a truck on Tuesday morning.
Eight people, including the taxi driver, were killed. Two others were injured and taken to hospital.
