For the first time in more than four decades, heavy machinery is once again reshaping the floor of Zeekoevlei, and residents around the False Bay Nature Reserve are starting to see visible progress.
Nearly a year after dredging operations began, work has now shifted from Storm Bay to Home Bay as crews continue one of Cape Town's most significant inland water restoration projects in recent years.
The City of Cape Town confirmed this week that more than 207 000m of sediment has already been removed from Storm Bay, marking a major milestone in the environmental rehabilitation programme.
