we are hoping for a swift end to lungus burial dispute chisembele

The dispute over where to bury former Zambian president Edgar Lungu is far from over. Private security guards are reported to have been enlisted to protect his body in South Africa.

The bereaved family says there have been several attempts to remove Lungus body from the mortuary in Pretoria without authorisation.

Lungu died in June at the age of 68. He had a strained relationship with his successor, Hakainde Hichilema.

Lungus family wants to bury him in a private ceremony in South Africa.

It has vowed to seek leave to appeal the judgment of the High Court in Pretoria that Lungus body should be repatriated to his country for a state funeral and burial.
