Still Bay, a quaint coastal town renowned for its serene waters and vibrant community, was shaken by tragedy on Monday afternoon when a beloved local man succumbed to an accident while surf-skiing on the Goukou River.
The National Sea Rescue Institute NSRI has confirmed the heart-wrenching death of a 65-year-old local man in Still Bay, reports Cape town Etc .
The incident unfolded on Monday afternoon as the deceased was surf-skiing on the Goukou River with a friend, just upstream from the local jetty, when he appeared to suddenly fall from his craft, prompting an emergency response.
Witnessing the shocking event, an NSRI Still Bay crewman immediately sprang into action to assist deceaseds companion in recovering him from the water. As they fought to save him, CPR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation efforts began while the alarm was raised for additional help.
Station commander of NSRI Still Bay, Stefan Grove, has expressed the urgency of the situation, stating, Our NSRI Still Bay crew and medics, along with WC Government Health EMS and the SA Police Services, responded promptly.
