The Strandfontein Community Police Forum in Cape Town, Western Cape, has called on parents, especially those who have newborn babies, to be vigilant at all times. This follows the abduction of a baby boy , who was just a few days old, over the weekend at Middestad Mall in Bellville.
The child has since been found in Tafelsig, Mitchellls Plain on the Cape Flats by police and reunited with his family.
A 37-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the kidnapping and is expected to appear in court soon.
Forum Chairperson, Sandy Schuter, says mothers who are expecting babies should be weary of strangers who try to befriend them.
How do you know when someone is grooming you? Be cautious all the time. I know we live in a society, a sick society where people have evil intentions. They prey on our vulnerable people like this mother today. And unknowingly this had happened to her and this can happen to any person, Schuter elaborates.
