President Cyril Ramaphosa has warned South Africans that the right to protest does not allow for violence, vandalism, or intimidation.

In his weekly newsletter ahead of Tuesdays protests against undocumented foreign nationals, the President urged demonstrators to remain peaceful and lawful.

He says government has accepted that the countrys immigration system requires substantial reform and therefore government is strengthening border management, increasing enforcement against undocumented immigration, improving the integrity of the asylum and visa systems, and taking action against corruption that has weakened immigration control.
