The sole survivor of the fire that killed six family members , including a one-year-old, at the Marikana informal settlement in KwaThema, Ekurhuleni, is being treated in hospital after sustaining critical burn wounds.
Emergency services responded to the blaze in the early hours of the morning.
The survivor, a seven-year-old girl, was privately transported to the nearest hospital for further medical treatment.
Ekurhuleni Emergency Services spokesperson, William Ntladi says one member of the family was rescued by community members, who rushed her to a medical facility for further treatment after she sustained severe burn wounds covering nearly 100 percent of her body.
