The South African Weather Services SAWS has issued a warning to residents of the south-western regions of South Africa as a well-developed cold front is expected to make landfall early on Saturday morning, 7 June 2025.

Spanning until Monday, 9 June 2025, this weather system is likely to unleash a torrent of wet, cold and windy conditions across various provinces, Cape town Etc reports.

According to SAWS, the highest precipitation is anticipated to occur on Saturday, with rainfall amounts between 10 to 20mm expected in the western parts of the Western Cape and significantly higher totals of 30 to 40mm over mountainous regions.

The forecast also indicated the likelihood of light snowfall in the Western Cape mountains, as well as the southern high-lying areas of the Northern Cape, SAWS said.

As the cold front progresses eastward throughout the weekend, local farmers and the general public are advised to brace themselves for harsh weather conditions.
