Rise Mzansi has expressed alarm at revelations that over R25m has been paid to 233 suspended police officers in under two-years who are facing charges including rape, corruption and hijacking.
The partys Chief Organizer and National Assembly Caucus Whip, Makashule Gana says the party will seek a briefing from the South African Police Service SAPS and the Independent Police Investigative Directorate IPID.
Part of this has just been, lets call it the culture within SAPS, of not wanting to speed up the disciplinary processes within. They drag for too long. These are some of the reforms that we believe, in terms of speeding up disciplinary processes, also from the IPIDs side, need to be sped up, says Gana.
