The Department of Higher Education says it has so far received more than 400 000 Student Financial Aid Scheme NSFAS applications for the 2026 academic year.
The Student Financial Aid Scheme has called on prospective students to apply before next months closing date.
Higher Education Department spokesperson Matshepo Seedat says most applications have been from matriculants, gap year and returning students.
