Motorists across South Africa are still uncertain about whether they must pay for temporary driving licences, despite earlier promises from the Department of Transport that the R72 fee had been waived.
This comes after the Road Traffic Management Corporation RTMC confirmed that the payment still applies, unless motorists meet specific conditions set out by the department MyBroadband .
The civil rights organisation AfriForum raised the issue after receiving confirmation from the RTMC national call centre that they havent scrapped the fee for a temporary drivers licence.
