Outgoing National Director of Public Prosecutions NDPP Advocate Shamila Batohi, says the authority has expanded support for victims of gender-based violence GBV through 66 Thuthuzela Care Centres nationwide, acknowledging that more still needs to be done.
Batohi made the remarks during her final media briefing as the NDPP at the NPAs Annual Report for the 2024/25 financial year in Pretoria.
As South Africa continues to face alarmingly high levels of gender-based violence, Batohi says the centres aim to provide victims with support to navigate the justice system and recover from trauma.
