Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis has welcomed the Magistrates Courts dismissal - with costs - of a protection order application that accused him of abusing his power, following a case the court found to be without merit, reports Cape town Etc .
In a statement issued by the City of Cape Town, the mayor said the application had been dismissed with costs , with the magistrate finding that it was completely without merit and intentionally delayed by the applicant , resulting in multiple postponements over a ten-month period.
The magistrate also criticised the conduct of the applicant and his attorney, noting that the matter amounted to a regrettable waste of the courts time and resources .
