Suspended deputy chief of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department EMPD, Julius Mkhwanazi, says he and murdered Witness D did not know each other.
Witness D was a former EMPD officer whose identity was concealed during his testimony in November 2025 at the Madlanga commission, which is investigating alleged infiltration and political interference in the criminal justice system.
He testified that Mkhwanazi had instructed him to dump a body as part of an alleged cover-up of the torture and murder of a robbery suspect.
