EFF leader Julius Malema has argued that a prison sentence would affect his familys wellbeing and prevent him from representing his constituency in Parliament.
Malema attended his pre-sentencing hearing for his conviction on firearms-related charges on Friday 23 January at the East London magistrates court.
The hearing had to be moved to a bigger courtroom to accommodate the large number of his legal team and supporters, including his Moshabi clam. It was held in a courtroom designated for the East London high court instead of the magistrates court, which heard the matter.
