The South African Weather Service SAWS has issued a warning for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds over some parts of KwaZulu-Natal, on Monday. This after heavy rains accompanied thunderstorms on Sunday night, causing localised flooding.
This warning is for severe thunderstorms accompanied by heavy downpours, lightning, hail and damaging winds which will result in localised flooding and damage to infrastructure. The district municipalities affected by these thunderstorms that are forecasted are the uThukela, Gingindlovu, eThewini, Ilembe and parts of King Cetswayo District, says Forecaster, Masego Nhlapo.
Earlier, the KwaZulu-Natal Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs Department said they are working closely with Disaster Management in the province to clear debris and restore services.
