Ekurhuleni Mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza has vowed to push ahead with the citys renewal agenda amid what he describes as a fightback against consequence management.

Speaking at a media briefing in Germiston on Friday 23 January, Xhakaza criticised recent News24 reports and commentary by investigative reporters Nkosinathi Mantshantsha and Jeff Wicks.

The reports claim the Mayor was at the scene of DJ Bongani Mfihlos murder in September 2023 and that the South African Police Service SAPS in Kempton Park had allegedly concealed this for almost two years.
