The Eastern Cape Transport Department says law enforcement operations will be intensified across the province as traffic volumes are expected to increase significantly over the coming two consecutive long weekends.
Provincial Transport Department Spokesperson Unathi Binqose says operations will focus on major routes linking economic hubs and minor roads.
The province recorded over 20 road fatalities during the Easter period, with three major crashes occurring on Good Friday and another one that killed seven people on Easter Sunday in Gqeberha.
