Disaster management teams in Ugu, Zululand, King Cetshwayo and Umkhanyakude districts in the South East and North East of KwaZulu-Natal are on high alert. This after the South African Weather Service SAWS has escalated its weather warning in these areas to Orange Level 6 meaning theres a high probability of significant damage.
A Yellow Level 4 warning is still in effect for the rest of the province.
SAWS has warned that a cold front, together with a cut-off low system, is expected to cause heavy rainfall exceeding 80 millimeters, as well as damaging winds.
