Western Cape Premier Alan Windes office has confirmed that 10 people have lost their lives in the storms that lashed the province since the weekend.
Some of the fatalities were caused by trees that fell on vehicles due to gale-force winds and people drowning in flooded areas.
The City of Cape Town says more than 83 000 people have now been affected in dwellings across the metropole.
