The Cape Crime Crisis Coalition CCCC has made an urgent appeal to President Cyril Ramaphosa to establish a national commission of inquiry into gang violence .

The coalition described it as a growing national crisis that threatens the security and well-being of communities across South Africa.

CCCC leader and Crime Expert, Dr. Llewellyn MacMaster says, "Fridays crime stats say that in the Western Cape alone, 208 of the 240 gang-related murders in South Africa occurred in the Western Cape and some of these police stations have been in the top 30 for some time."

So, clearly we hear all the promises of the intentional fight against gangs, we have the anti-gang unit launched by the President in 2018, but we dont see the results. At the moment, for people on the ground, it feels as if its getting worse by the day."
