Gauteng Traffic Police has confirmed that 22 buses and four minibuses were impounded on Wednesday morning in Atteridgeville, west of Pretoria, after failing to produce valid operating licences.

A total of 58 drivers were fined for various offences, including worn-out tyres, cracked windscreens and operating vehicles without fire extinguishers.

Gauteng Traffic police spokesperson Sello Maremane says authorities are conducting the Safety Scholar Blitz Programme nationwide until operators comply with regulations.
