Ekurhuleni Mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza has led the demolition of an illegal cash-and-carry wholesale outlet in Barcelona, Etwatwa, following a court order secured by the city.
The outlet was originally an RDP house that was illegally converted and developed without the required approvals, Xhakaza told media reporters at the site on Wednesday 28 January.

We did say that building control, as part of by-law enforcement, is something that we will be doing regularly so that even those who are still thinking of erecting illegal structures in our communities will see that we mean business, he said.
