The Johannesburg City Council will on Thursday debate a motion of no confidence in Mayor Dada Morero . The motion was brought by minority party, Al Jama-ah, with the support of other minority parties, who are calling for the vote to be conducted by secret ballot.
The parties have since written to African National Congress ANC structures, urging Morero to step down over ongoing service delivery failures.
This comes amid factional battles within the partys regional leadership following the election of Loyiso Masuku as chairperson of the ANC Greater Johannesburg region .
