The Springboks pulled a move straight out of the Paul Roos playbook before Canan Moodie carved up the Italian defence.
Take a look:Winger Edwill van der Merwe scored a brace as the Springboks obliterated Italy at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium to wrap up the two-Test mini-series 2-0.
The win also ensured that fullback Willie Le Roux celebrated his 100th Test with a solid performance and a victory on home soil.
The Boks gave a much more assured account of themselves after last week's lacklustre showing at Loftus Versfeld, as they outplayed and outclassed the Azzurri 45-0 to send them on their way.
Van der Merwe - who returned to the Springbok team after 13 months - didn't look out of place as he ran in two first-half tries to go along with five-pointers from scrumhalf Grant Williams and outside centre Canan Moodie to send the Boks into the sheds with a 24-0 lead.
