The City of Cape Town's Water and Sanitation Directorate has advised that various parts of the Mother City will experience water supply disruptions this week as the team conducts planned work on its water supply infrastructure, reports Cape town Etc .
The following areas will be affected:
Maintenance work: pipe and valve installations, repairs and replacements Bloekombos and Wallacedene- Monday, 14 July, to Friday, 15 August
The Glen Garry Reservoir will shut down for its essential annual cleaning and maintenance. An alternate water supply will be rerouted to the Glen Garry area, but at lower-than-usual pressure.
According to the directorate, the process is critical to ensuring the continued quality and safety of its water supply. The Wemmershoek Water Treatment Plant will supply the Wemmershoek pipeline and the Blackheath Water Treatment Plant will supply the link pipeline. The combination of these plants will supply the Tygerberg Reservoir.
Saxonsea, Avondale and Robinvale- Tuesday, 15 July, from 8am to 5pm
Rehabilitation work and the installation of new water mains will be carried out on the water infrastructure serving these areas. The entire Saxonsea, Avondale and Robinvale will be without water during this period.
