Lion's Head came into focus on Saturday, 10 January 2026, when Wilderness Search And Rescue WSAR teams and SANParks Table Mountain rangers helped a 28-year-old hiker who slipped on a loose, sandy section above the first ladder, reports Cape town Etc .
The teams reached her quickly, treated her on scene and stabilised her before moving her down the trail.
A Western Cape Government Health and Wellness EMS paramedic assessed the patient and the rescue team used a Cascade Rescue Terra Tamer wheel attached to a stretcher to ease the descent to a waiting vehicle. She left the scene in an ambulance and went to hospital for further treatment.
