Groote Schuurs hospital school is helping young patients continue their education while receiving care, thanks to two dedicated teachers.

A recent post on the Heroes of Groote Schuur Facebook page, Principal Rosetta Cupido and teacher Natasha van Jaarsveld run one of only about five hospital schools still operating in the Western Cape.

Hospital schools were created in the 1950s because children were often hospitalised for extended periods of time. Today there are only about five hospital schools in the Western Cape and we are one of them, said Cupido.
