The City of Tshwane has called on its residents not to panic following the detection of partially treated effluent in the Rietvlei Dam.
The metro says the effluent was detected entering through its downstream the Sesmyl Spruit. The metro has urged residents not to fish or consume water from the dam while an assessment is being conducted.
The assessment includes comprehensive water quality testing and onsite monitoring.
