As South Africa marks the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children, the Western Cape High Court sentenced a 27-year-old man from the Siyanyanzela informal settlement in Grabouw with four life terms and a further 63 years, reports Cape town Etc .
According to Smile 90.4FM , the National Prosecuting Authority NPA confirmed the convictions, including:
Assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
Four counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances
Four counts of rape, one victim aged 17
NPA spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila read the details in court . The court sentenced him to three years' direct imprisonment for the assault, 15 years for each robbery count, and life imprisonment for each rape charge, he said.
