The South African National Space Agency SANSA has put out a warning for elevated geomagnetic storm activity to affect the Earth on Tuesday.

The geomagnetic storm is caused by burst of energy from the Sun and will affect high frequency radio communications on earth.

The Space agency says recent activity on the Sun triggered a coronal mass ejection CME, a cloud of particles careening towards the Earth, and expected to impact Earth from the early hours of Wednesday 20 January, SANSA said in a statement on Monday. This impact will interact with the Earth's magnetic field and cause a geomagnetic storm.
