The conflict in South Sudan seems to have flared up again. A peace agreement signed in 2018 had brought a period of relative stability, but that progress is now falling apart. Fighting has erupted in the Jonglei region, north of the capital, and the army has deployed troops to prevent rebel forces from advancing further toward Juba.
