The South African Weather Services SAWS has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms and heavy downpours over parts of the country.
Localised flooding, strong winds and large amounts of hail have been forecast for Gauteng, the Highveld and escarpment of Mpumalanga, south-western parts of Limpopo, eastern parts of Free State and North-West, as well as the north-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
As the country gets ready to celebrate Christmas, Johannesburg Emergency Services spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi has warned of wet and slippery roads.
