franschhoek resort tightens security after racism allegations

A popular Franschhoek camping resort has moved to tighten security after a guest accused fellow campers and management of racist and violent conduct that cut short a family holiday.

The incident allegedly unfolded at De Hollandsche Molen on 21 December, just days before the family was due to check out, after what the patron described as years of tension during annual visits to the resort, as per the Sunday Tribune . In a detailed social media post, the camper said their family had returned to the site regularly for five years, but claimed ongoing harassment had escalated into physical violence.

According to the account, children and women in the group were frequently targeted by other campers and told where they could and could not walk, despite there being no such rules. The patron alleged that the behaviour was never directed at adult men, describing the victims as soft targets.
