A minibus taxi driver died and two passengers were injured following a collision with a Golden Arrow bus in Philippi East on Monday morning, 11 August.
According to a South African Police Service SAPS statement, the crash occurred on Sheffield Road. While some reports allege that the taxi may have driven through a red traffic light before colliding with the bus, SAPS has not confirmed the cause of the incident and is investigating.
The driver was declared dead at the scene, and two passengers were taken to hospital for treatment. Authorities are appealing for witnesses to assist with the investigation, which will consider whether traffic violations, vehicle faults, or other factors played a role.
