Retrieval Of Missing Police Vehicle Has Brought Some Relief: Masemola

Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola says the retrieval of a VW Polo hatchback from the Hennops River has brought some relief and a sense of closure . The car was used by the three constables who died during heavy flooding.
Addressing the media, Masemola said the vehicle was recovered not far from where it was initially suspected to have submerged.
He explained that the river had been swollen due to a blockage downstream, but once that was cleared, water levels dropped and the car was located.
We are quite happy that after hard work, we can indeed say the car has been recovered. And, actually, not far from where we suspected the car went through. So it has been recovered by the team. I was told that the team said this morning they realized the water level was quite high. As somewhere downstream, the river was blocked by debris, which they unblocked. And the water started flowing, the river subsided a bit, and with the search they found the car here.
Investigators have recovered several personal belongings from the wreck, including a white handbag believed to belong to Constable Senoge. Her ID card and driver's license were also found inside. A firearm previously reported to be in the vehicle's boot, along with a green towel and a service book, were also retrieved.
