President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Special Investigating Unit SIU head Adv Andy Jan Lekgoa Mothibi as the new National Director of Public Prosecutions NDPP effective 1 February 2026.
The Presidency announced the surprise pick late on Tuesday 7 January.
A selection advisory panel set up by Ramaphosa and chaired by Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, advised him that none of the interviewed candidates was suitable for the position, the Presidency said.
