A R100 000 reward has been announced and 22 suspects were arrested overnight as authorities moved to contain the fallout from Thursday's execution-style shootings in Mitchells Plain, Cape town Etc reports.

According to the City of Cape Town , five people were killed and several others injured in separate incidents across Beacon Valley, Tafelsig and the city centre.

Acting Mayor Eddie Andrews confirmed the reward for information leading to convictions, calling the bloodshed a direct threat to community safety that will not be tolerated anywhere in our city . His remarks followed a 12-hour police blitz that saw 43 gang-linked properties raided.

In Beacon Valley alone, three separate shootings left 10 people wounded, three fatal. Two more victims were killed in Tafelsig and the city centre, bringing the death toll to five.

While police have yet to confirm whether the attacks were gang-related, the Anti-Gang Unit has taken over the investigation, TimesLive reports.
