Eastern Cape Judge President Selby Mbenenge has called his third witness, Unathi Sogoni in the landmark sexual harassment probe against him.
Sogoni is a stenographer at the Eastern Cape Division of the High Court in Makhanda. Sogoni says she is a former friend of Judges Secretary Andiswa Mengo, who is the complainant in the matter.
Sogoni is expected to shed light on her friendship with Mengo, in testimony that seems to test the credibility of Mengo. an issue that has raised the question of relevance in the tribunal.
Mengo alleges that she was sexually harassed by the top Judge via in-person interactions and electronic communication between the period of June 2021 and November 2022.
In her evidence while being led by Advocate Griffiths Madonsela, Sogoni told the tribunal that her friendship with Mengo has since ended.
