Malibongwe Drive between the N7 and Rivergate remains completely closed in both directions this morning as protests flare up again, Cape town Etc reports.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area and use alternative routes.
This follows violent demonstrations that erupted for the second day yesterday , when enraged residents from the Ezihagwini informal settlement took to the streets after the City of Cape Town allegedly demolished structures they say are vital to their livelihoods.
The community, which borders Dunoon, claims that City Law Enforcement tore down several informal businesses and shelters, sparking outrage among locals who depend on these structures for daily survival.
Potsdam Road and parts of Malibongwe Drive became flashpoints of unrest on Tuesday, with tyres burned, roads blocked, and commuters stranded as the situation spiralled.
