Police have found a white Chevrolet bakkie that was possibly used in the murder of Madlanga commission Witness D, identified as Marius van der Merwe.
The vehicle was found abandoned on a gravel dead-end road amongst shacks in Johannesburgs Alexandra township, National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola said while visiting van der Merwes family in Brakpan, Gauteng, on Monday evening 8 December.
Van der Merwe was shot dead outside his home on Friday, just weeks after testifying at the Madlanga commission on alleged criminality and corruption in Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department EMPD where he previously worked.
