Beyond Phinda Zuka Lodge reopened late last year following a refurbishment, which repositioned the lodge as a private safari retreat for small groups within Phinda Private Game Reserve in Northern KwaZulu-Natal.
The lodge has four thatched suites overlooking a private waterhole and has long catered to travellers seeking privacy and shared space. The refurbishment retains this format while introducing updated interiors, warmer tones and enhanced communal areas. A new Family Suite has been added to better accommodate multi-generational groups.
Drawing inspiration from the name Zuka, meaning dawn, the visual concept celebrates new beginnings while honouring the lodges heritage as the home of one of the reserves founding families. It is infused with bohemian warmth, African craft and textures of clay, wood and woven materials to create a space where heritage meets purpose, said Kevin Pretorius , Beyond MD for South Africa Lodges.
