Gautengs crime prevention wardens CPWs and/or traffic wardens, popularly known as Amapanyaza, are now barred from participating in South African Police Services SAPS policing activities.
This is in line with the Public Protectors remedial actions contained in a report published in October.
Amapanyaza roles scaled backAccording to the governments Justice, Crime Prevention and Security cluster, Amapanyazas activities will henceforth be strictly limited to community mobilisation programmes, school safety programmes and events where the event organisers request their involvement.
