From December 1, passengers flying in or out of Nigeria will pay an additional levy of 11,5 R200 per ticket under the new Advance Passenger Information System APIS programme.
According to a memo from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority NCAA to airlines, the new levy will be collected at the point of sale on all tickets issued for passengers departing from or arriving in Nigeria. The airline is responsible for paying the APIS charge to the NCAA.
All airlines including Nigerian carriers operating international flights into and out of Nigeria are required to take immediate steps to update ticketing and reservation systems to reflect the new APIS charge, said the memo seen by Nigerian publication, The Guardian .
