The National Education, Health and Allied Workers Union Nehawu has called on the government to take a firm stance against those responsible for spreading false information about the country. The union has referenced claims about an alleged white genocide.
It warns that such misinformation could have led to the country being sanctioned.
Nehawu President, Mike Shingange, says, Majority of the people in this country have voted for the political parties they voted for. They have adopted the policy that we have adopted. Therefore, the freedom of expression cannot translate into the citizens or the country suffering because of the expression of your views. We do think there should be a limit that your freedom must not harm others. Because now the economy of the country is going to suffer, the legitimacy of our government is going to suffer.
