South Africa's most breathtaking landscapes will be free to explore next month as the country celebrates the 20th annual National Parks Week, an initiative designed to encourage public engagement with conservation and heritage.

According to SANParks , the event kicks off with a special celebration at Kruger National Park on 21 September, followed by free entry to most national parks from 22-26 September. Select parks will extend the offer through to 28 September, giving locals and tourists an affordable way to experience the country's famed wildlife and scenic beauty.

While entry fees are waived, SANParks emphasises that accommodation and activities, such as guided safaris, bush walks and luxury lodges, will still require payment.
